Symmetry CONNECT & GUEST 1.24.1

Introduction

This bulletin provides technical information on product improvements for Symmetry CONNECT & GUEST for both hosted and on-premise deployments, available in production from May 2020.

Please can customers upgrade to the latest client 3.2.3.274 to accommodate for the latest changes in 1.24.1. All existing customers must download the latest Print and Scan Utilities prior to turning on SignalR. Customers should download the latest IDM importer

New Functionality

GUEST

  • For both Hosted and On-Premise customers:
    • A replacement for Firebase is now available using a facility called SignalR. SignalR gives Hosted and On-Premise customers the ability to use the following applications without the need for Firebase:
      • Self Registration Kiosk
      • Guard Assist
      • Print Utility
      • Scan Utility
    • Hosted Customers who activate SignalR will experience no change to existing functionality for the aforementioned application
    • SignalR can be activated by System Administrators in IDM > Settings > System Settings. Please read the guidance carefully within the System Settings prior to turning on SignalR
  • Customers now have the ability to print Barcodes onto badges from Self Registration Kiosks and have them sync to Symmetry for Access.

Installations & infrastructure

  • New Installation documentation has been created to accommodate for the latest changes to installation procedures
  • Measures have been put in place to ensure personnel are deploying a specific version of the application- Users should refer to the new installation guide for instructions on how to perform upgrades / installations to the latest version of the application.
  • Client App healthchecks have been put in place to monitor application states.
  • Client App healthchecks on the AMAG.Symmetry.Client have been put in place to monitor application state.

Issues Addressed

  • FP150357 - Resolved issue where an invalid date/time for a UDF could prevent the synchronization of a record.
  • FP150876 - Access assigned to identities will propagate across multiple integrations correctly.
  • FP151048 - Self Registration Queues will process and display photos correctly.
  • FP148517 - Access approvals will process correctly where an ACRM approves due to having no ACR present.
  • FP150815 - Identity uploads will now update phone numbers against existing Identities.
  • FP152105 - Access that has been granted with any combination of Activation / Expiry date assigned, can now have the Expiration date updated without error.
  • FP150962 - Audit Activity Reports now accurately reflect what is reported in the UI in ‘My Audits’.
  • FP147210 - Visitor Upload has been reduced to a maximum of 250 visits per upload and measures have been put in place within the application to defend against performance related errors, when conducting group check in.
  • FP148726 - License scanning issues have been addressed that prevented some licences from not being scanned correctly.
  • FP149350 - Badges will not get deleted for a visitor when another visit for that visitor expires in Symmetry or is checked out from Guest.
  • FP148482 - UDFs values will display correctly after check-in on a Visitor’s Information from the Reception Tab.
  • FP149248 - Improvements have been made to ensure updates to CONNECT Identity information will appear in Symmetry on the initial Sync to Symmetry and will also retain the Employee Ref.
  • FP151520 - The keyboard on the Self Registration Kiosk using the Surface GO, will consistently popup when selecting any field on any page.
  • FP151818 - Card Numbers will correctly and consistently appear in the ‘Upcoming Credential Expiration Report’ for new and existing Credentials.
  • FP149477 - The white screen issues when the accept button on policies is not selected and the user attempts to process the Self Registration.
  • FP146820 - Updates to Company names will now be accurately reflected on Identities associated to that Company.
  • FP148072 - We have imposed a limit of 10000 credentials to any credential range upload preventing any errors from occurring when assigning credentials.
  • FP147548 - Audit filters in ‘My Audits’ will now default to the most recent Audit Campaign.
  • FP148678 - Photo Admins will no longer receive email notifications for credential requests if notifications are turned off.
  • FP140065 - We have improved validation for IDM Identity details, users will not be able to save Identity details without all mandatory information populated.
  • FP142797 - Users will no longer experience UI issues when checking in Visitors between 11:45-00:00. Addressed issues with login credentials when the username has mixed cases (Aa). The system will no longer throw an error when users update passwords against Identities with mixed case usernames.

Known Issues

  • Amendments to VMS screen configurations by Building & Company are not reflected in the UI. This is being fixed in the next major release.
  • After completion of ‘Define New Visitor’ from the Unknown Visitor link (Calendar Integration) the user is not automatically re-directed to the default GUEST view. The work around is to manually navigate back to GUEST until a fix is put in place in the next major release.
  • For Visits scheduled by the Calendar Integration, if a user cancels a visit whilst visitor’s are still checked in, errors are thrown in the system. This will be addressed in the next major release.
  • PDF pagination numbering does not change when cycling through (x) pages for Policies.
  • Editing expiration dates for Access group assignments, that have already synced to Symmetry removes the access group name in the User Interface. To work around, save the edited expiration dates and the last persisted access group assignments will be displayed in User Interface.
  • Links in email notifications to process credential requests are not getting redirected to the manage credential request page where the application has no sub-domain name. To work around, configure the system with a sub-domain and email link will work correctly and direct to the Manage Access Request page.
  • Unable to select multiple visits for approval by an admin through pagination. The page may freeze upon use of the Multiple Approve button. To workaround, multi select for the page selected and approve for those visits only from the single page of selection.
  • ACRM/ACR proxy by admin is displaying exceptions when selecting Audit Pie charts from CONNECT Dashboard. ACRM/ACR retain functional behavior for Audit pie chart selection.
  • ACRM/ACR proxy by admin will throw exceptions when navigating between GUEST and CONNECT.
  • Identity Credentials Report attributes will be deleted from fields if drop-down is selected during editable phase of report generation. Ensure that report is generated before selecting the Drop down icon.
  • Complete identity extract report occasionally displays -1 hours on expiry date.
