IDM

The Identity Management (IDM) Tab of the application provides the administrators with quick access to all the items they need to configure core features, such as Buildings, Company and System Settings. IDM is also where authorized users/administrators can add and manage Identities, or users of the system.

Terms Used:

  • System Administrator: User with full access to all aspects of the configuration of the IDM tab within the application.
  • Identity: A user (typically an employee, authorized contractor, or tenant) listed on the home page of the IDM tab.
  • Tenant: Company and set of users that may lease space in one or more buildings and may need to manage their own users in the system.
  • Company: All users are assigned to a specific company in the system. Data can be partitioned by Company within the system if required.

Companies in CONNECT are in no way related to Companies in Symmetry Access Control. It is important to understand the two objects are not related.

  • Buildings: Each identity is assigned to a specific Building in the system. Visitors are also checked-in and out of specific Buildings within Symmetry GUEST.
