Symmetry CONNECT & GUEST 1.22.0

Introduction

This bulletin provides technical information on product improvements for Symmetry CONNECT & GUEST for both hosted and on-premise deployments, available in production from March 24, 2020.

For customers who wish to use the new Identity Expiration and Identity Termination settings in CONNECT, the latest AMAG.Symmetry client MUST be installed. Customers will expect to see AMAG.Symmetry Client version 3.2.1.269 as the latest client version.**

New Functionality

GUEST

  • New functionality in GUEST > Configuration > System > Calendar Integration Settings.
    • New setting ‘Require the Host to enter all visitor data when registering visitors via a Calendar Application’. (This will be set to OFF for existing customers so to retain existing functionality).
      • Where the new setting is checked, visits scheduled via the Calendar Integration will now trigger an ‘Unknown visitor’ email that will be received by the Host. The email will provide a link to allow visitor information to be entered by the Host.
      • Where the new setting is un-checked, visits scheduled via the Calendar Integration will automatically assume the first and last name as the visitor’s email address and the company as the email domain, until updated in GUEST.
    • New Filter for email domains - Allow filtering of specific email domains to reduce noise for Identities who already have site access.
    • New Filter for email addresses- Allow filtering of specific email addresses to reduce noise for Identities who already have site access.

CONNECT

  • The system will now Randomise card pins for both GUEST & CONNECT Integrations where credentials are applied.
  • For Access Control Rules.
    • New settings in CONNECT > Configuration > General > Access Control Rules.
    • New Settings for ‘Identity Expiration’ & ‘Identity Termination’ will be ON by default to maintain existing functionality in CONNECT.
    • When Settings for ‘Identity Expiration’ & ‘Identity Termination’ set to OFF, CONNECT will retain Card Holders in SMS where the respective Identities are expired and/or Terminated in IDM (see the Important Information for further details).
    • Settings for ‘Identity Expiration’ & ‘Identity Termination’ set to OFF, CONNECT will retain Identities in CONNECT but flag credentials in red.
    • Settings for ‘Identity Expiration’ & ‘Identity Termination’ set to OFF, CONNECT Identity view will display Identity status of ‘Terminated’ as it does for ‘Expired’.
    • Settings for ‘Identity Expiration’ & ‘Identity Termination’ set to OFF, will not allow the last credential for an Identity to be deleted, delete button is now disabled in this situation.
  • Timezones are now applied and are configurable for the following areas:
    • Building Management
    • Access Groups
    • Initial adoption of timezones in the application will be set to default placeholder value of (UTC) until set by the user.
  • Updates and Additions to CONNECT Reports
    • Symmetry Integration Report : The report now explicitly states what action was taken when a record is Terminated/Expired/Deleted.
    • Card Activity Report: The CONNECT Card Activity Report now shows the card transactions according to the time zone configured for the specific Access Control Integration from which the card activity was imported. The “Transaction D/T” field is now renamed to “Date/Time Local”, in order to confirm with GUEST. The time zone is now included to the right of the date and time in the “Date/Time Local” field in the report.
    • CONNECT Activity Report : Add Identity Expiration’s, Terminations and Deletions to the Connect Activity Report. The report now shows that an Identity had their access etc. removed because they expired, or were terminated/deleted.
    • (NEW) Identities without Credentials : New Report to show all Identities that do not have a Credential assigned, or do not have an active Credential (i.e. their assigned Credential is expired).
    • (NEW) Identities without Access Groups : new Report to show all Identities that do not have any Access Groups assigned, or do not have an active Access Group (i.e. their assigned Access Group is expired).
  • Improved handling of expiration dates passed from CONNECT to SMS. Dates now accurately reflects the credential expiration dates set in CONNECT into SMS.
  • CONNECT credentials can now be manually expired by selecting a previous date on the credential expiration field
  • Imported Access Groups now assume and display the timezone of SMS

IDM

  • New configuration available in IDM for POP/IMAP.  Users can now configure Integration Email Accounts against POP/IMAP protocols.

Installations & infrastructure

  • Implementation of health checks on services, during installations and upgrades.
  • Removal of build artifacts from Docker images.
  • On initial installation the installer will validate to credentials automatically to ensure no failures on authentication when configuring key services.

Issues Addressed

  • Addressed an issue with addresses from certain countries such as the UK and UAE not being accepted via the google api. Addresses from these countries are now accepted by IDM.
  • FP146259 - Fixed an issue with CONNECT emails not being received by the user.
  • FP147896 - Addressed Synchronization issues in CONNECT when passing data between CONNECT and Symmetry using the Sync to Symmetry button.
  • FP148909 - Addressed issues with SSO and using the Identity Manager in the Credential Request workflow.
  • FP145800 - Addressed issue with the GUEST Roles Report accuracy. Report now accurately reflects applied GUEST Roles.
  • FP149513 - Addressed issues with Check in / Check out dates, for single-day / multi-day visits in the Visitor Reports.
  • FP148077 - Addressed issue where temp cards assigned were not getting transmitted to the node.
  • FP150442 - Addressed issues with caching on visit types when switching buildings in Scheduling a new visit.

Known Issues

  • Amendments to VMS screen configurations by Building & Company are not reflected in the UI. This is being fixed in the next major release.
  • After completion of ‘Define New Visitor’ from the Unknown Visitor link (Calendar Integration) the user is not automatically re-directed to the default GUEST view. The work around is to manually navigate back to GUEST until a fix is put in place in the next major release.
  • For Visits scheduled by the Calendar Integration, if a user cancels a visit whilst visitor’s are still checked in, errors are thrown in the system. This will be addressed in the next major release.
  • PDF pagination numbering does not change when cycling through (x) pages for Policies.
  • Editing expiration dates for Access group assignments, that have already synced to Symmetry removes the access group name in the User Interface. To work around, save the edited expiration dates and the last persisted access group assignments will be displayed in User Interface.
  • Links in email notifications to process credential requests are not getting redirected to the manage credential request page where the application has no sub-domain name. To work around, configure the system with a sub-domain and email link will work correctly and direct to the Manage Access Request page.
  • Unable to select multiple visits for approval by an admin through pagination. The page may freeze upon use of the Multiple Approve button. To workaround, multi select for the page selected and approve for those visits only from the single page of selection.
  • ACRM/ACR proxy by admin is displaying exceptions when selecting Audit Pie charts from CONNECT Dashboard. ACRM/ACR retain functional behavior for Audit pie chart selection.
  • ACRM/ACR proxy by admin will throw exceptions when navigating between GUEST and CONNECT.
  • Identity Credentials Report attributes will be deleted from fields if drop-down is selected during editable phase of report generation. Ensure that report is generated before selecting the Drop down icon.
  • Complete identity extract report occasionally displays -1 hours on expiry date.
