The AMAG IDM Importer is an application used to integrate Symmetry Connect and/or Guest with a local identity data source, such as AMAG Symmetry Security Management System (SMS), or a local SQL database. The IDM Importer is installed on a server or workstation within a customer’s network and is configured to communicate with a local database (for example Symmetry SMS or a standard SQL data source).
Once configured the IDM Importer makes a secure (HTTPS) web service connection to Symmetry Connect and/or Guest for the purposes of synchronizing users of the system. The connection is initiated from the IDM Importer and requires port 443 to be open. No other firewall/network configuration should be necessary.
The IDM Importer is only used for synchronizing local identities with Symmetry Guest and/or Connect. No data is sent from Symmetry Guest/Connect to the local data source.
